      Auf dem Mars wüten in regelmäßigen Abständen heftige Staubstürme, die weite Teile des Planeten in einen Schleier aus rostrotem Staub und Sand hüllen. Ein besonders gewaltiger Sturm wurde von der Sonde Mars Global Surveyor im Juli 2001 beobachtet.
