The full extent of Portugal can be seen on this cloud free day using the MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS). The Capitol City, Lisbon can be clearly seen lying on the Tejo, the valley of the river can be seen cutting down from the northeast. As too can the city of Porto further north on the River Douro, sediment can be seen pumping into the Atlantic from the river, in the form of a green plume.
To the south of the image we can see the coast of the Algarve with the city of Faro, and further east along the coast is the Spanish city of Cadiz. North of Cadiz we can see Seville, and in the centre of Spain the capitol, Madrid.
