This MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer image shows an area over Gulf or Martaban in the Andaman Sea belonging to Myanmar (Burma). This country is bordered by China on the north and east, Laos and Thailand on the east (the right part of the image), the Andaman Sea on the south, and the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh, and India on the west.

The capital of Myanmar, Yangon (Rangoon) can be seen in the centre left part of the image in grey colour. Near the capital can be seen a mouth formed by the Irrawaddy River. This river, which flows south through central Myanmar, empties into the Gulf of the Martaban and the Andaman Sea. In the right part of the Gulf there is another river called Salween spilling out sediment into the Andaman Sea.
