The image shows ESA's SpaceHouse first floor.

ESA’s SpaceHouse has been under evaluation as a type of 'icon' or landmark due to its unique design and the use of novel space technologies. The use of materials specially developed for space exploitation could allow architects to design breathtaking shapes and new dimensions in new buildings. Architects, designers and builders are starting to develop houses that reduce energy consumption and incorporate new technologies. The SpaceHouse presents a concept design for a new habitation on Earth based on a series of innovative space technologies.

In Switzerland the SpaceHouse was proposed as a 'Swiss Space Vitrine'. The authorities in the Basque country would like to establish a highly visible 'communication platform' for the region by exploiting the SpaceHouse concept. The Technical University in Dresden in Germany evaluated the SpaceHouse as a possible focal point for the University and aerospace industry in Saxony. Interest has also been expressed from large hotel chains to use the SpaceHouse as VIP-area or attractive restaurant on top of hotel-towers.
