Chandrayaan-1, India's first mission to the Moon, was launched on 22 October 2008 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, India.
The launcher, an upgraded version of ISRO's Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), took off at 02:52 Central European Summer Time (CEST), corresponding to 06:22 Indian local time.

Chandrayaan-1 is an ISRO mission with ESA participation. Other international partners in the mission include Bulgaria and the USA.
