      Hylas-1's Generic Flexible Payload is based on the Modular Microwave Hybrid Techology (MMHT) concept developed by Astrium through a series of ESA-funded Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems (ARTES) projects. Multiple layers of microwave hybrids are stacked together within a ceramic substrate.
