    • Description

The same ship is tracked making an apparently unreported stopover during its journey to Europe from South America, stopping at Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Information on such unreported stopovers can be of great interest to many governmental agencies and demonstrates the value of space-based AIS.
This example is for illustration purposes only however; due to the experimental nature of the NORAIS receiver on ISS, it is possible that an AIS message reporting the stopover was indeed sent but not picked up from orbit.
