During the CryoSat Arctic campaign, a Twin Otter from the Technical University of Denmark will be used to take measurments of the ice from the air. The Twin Otter is carries an airborne instrument called ASIRAS, which mimics the radar altimeter on the CryoSat satellite.

In addition, a Basler-67 from the Alfred Wegner Institute, equipped with an electro-magnetic ice-thickness sensor, will be used throughout the campaign. NASA is also providing measurements from their aircraft during their IceBridge campaign.
