TIGO is located at Observatorio Geodésico, Universidad de Concepción in Chile
The Transportable Integrated Geodetic Observatory, TIGO, in Concepción, performed the world’s first laser ranging of the first Galileo satellite on 27 November 2011.
This view of the TIGO ground station shows the laser telescope (bottom), the very long-baseline interferometer radio telescope (right) and the global navigation satellite system station (middle).
TIGO is owned by the German Bundesamt für Kartographie und Geodäsie (BKG) and has been operating jointly with the Universidad de Concepción (UdeC) and the Chilean Instituto Geográfico Militar (IGM) since 2002, filling gaps in various types of worldwide geodetic measurements.
