    • Description

Mohorovičić discontinuity – known as Moho – in Africa based on data from the GOCE satellite. Moho is the boundary between the crust and the mantle. This image compares an old global Moho model (left) based on seismic/gravity data and Moho-mapping based on GOCE data (right) in Africa. The GOCE Exploitation for Moho Modelling and Applications project – or GEMMA – was carried out by Italian scientist Daniele Sampietro under the Changing Earth Science Network initiative.
